A Classic Italian Pastry
Cannoncini, or "little cannons," are a beloved pastry found in bakeries throughout Italy. These crisp and flaky puff pastry horns are filled with luscious pastry cream and dusted with powdered sugar, offering a perfect balance of buttery crunch and creamy sweetness. They are a favorite treat for celebrations, holidays, and special moments shared with family and friends.
1 lb of Puff Pastry
2 cups of Pastry Cream
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Roll the fresh puff pastry into wide strips about 3 inches long and wide. Wrap the strips around greased cone-shaped molds.
Brush the wrapped pastry lightly with melted butter and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Bake the cones at 300°F (150°C) in a convection oven for about 20 minutes, using no fan or low fan setting.
Allow to cool completely. Fill a pastry bag with fresh pastry cream and pipe it into the hollow cones.
Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving. Best enjoyed fresh the same day!
